SUNGLASSES READERS (2023), inkjet on toned tan paper, 22 Editions

once my photo instructor asked me to look through a diapter. when you use a diopter, you really should only be moving the needle a millimeter or two to focus the camera to your own eye. with each attempt, i spun that dipoter to the other end of the camera. my teacher told me that by that measurement of unit, i should be blind.

ever since ive looked at light differently. i refuse to get new glasses because it would get rid of the glare that would fill my vision at night when the lights get brighter. during the solar eclipse i looked at the sun blind. the world just looks more fun.
SUNGLASSES READERS is a zine inspired by the rain using a series of processes with photography, drawing, and digital collage.
The layers created through the multiple processes of scanning, photographing, rescanning, and rephotographing (depending on the image, maybe more) created bleeding images and colors, seeping into each other like rain on paper. Using images collected over a span of three years, the playful combination of the images, accentuated by the vibrant colors and textures through physical drawing material, the photos take the viewer through an overstimulated visual diary.
